Information About Huntington Harbour:

Huntington Harbor is on the Northwest end of Huntington Beach just across Pacific Coast Highway from Sunset Beach. Five man-made islands were developed from 1963 into the late 1960’s. Gilbert and Admiralty Islands each have about 100 homes, Trinidad Island 275, Humbolt Island 335, and Davenport Island 220. In addition there are numerous townhome complexes dotted around the harbor including, among others Broadmoor, Portofino Cove, Tennis Estates, Christina Bay Townhouses, Seagate, and Seabridge. There is also the exclusive gated community of Coral Cay, accessed from Pacific Coast Highway on the west. A tour of the harbor via a channel cruise reveals many beautiful large estates lining the waterways!

As you might imagine, many of the homes have private boat docks, and there are some available to rent for those who have a water craft or yacht but don’t live directly on the water with one of their own. Boat docks range in size from 30 to over 150 feet. Channel depth varies from about 8-12 feet, and to exit the harbor into the Pacific Ocean, vessels must pass underneath a bridge at Pacific Coast Highway. The clearance is typically 23-29 ft depending on the tide. Therefore most sail boats need to have a collapsible mast to enter and exit the harbor. For this reason Huntington Harbor is considered more of a powerboat marina. Either way, by sail or motor, romantic Catalina Island is closer from Huntington Harbor than any other pleasure craft marina!

For residents who are watercraft enthusiasts there is the Huntington Harbor Yacht Club that hails back to 1965. Peter’s Landing Marina is also in the harbor and offers private yacht charters, restaurants, and sport fishing opportunities.
